Hiawatha Northington II is a distinguished attorney and Managing Partner of the Jackson office of the AMLaw 100 law firm GRSM, where he specializes in complex litigation matters, including professional liability, labor and employment, and insurance defense. With over 30 years of experience, he has successfully represented a diverse range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, small municipalities, and individuals, in both state and federal courts. His impressive career includes first-chairing numerous bench and jury trials and resolving hundreds of cases through innovative legal strategies.
Hiawatha holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law (1996) and a Bachelor of Business Administration, summa cum laude, in Accounting from Jackson State University (1993). Throughout his career, he has earned several honors, including being named a 2019 Leader in Law by the Mississippi Business Journal and receiving the 2001 Lawyer of the Year award from the Mississippi Conference of the Branches of NAACP.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Hiawatha has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. He is deeply involved in local organizations such as the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., where he has held various leadership roles, including Guide Right Chair from 2018 to 2023. He has also been a member of the Jackson State University National Alumni Association and served on the boards of both the Crossroads Film Society and The Oaks House Museum.
